Woodland Wanderland!

The first question we get and are sure you have is, “isn’t wonderland spelt with an ‘o’?” Typically, yes. However, in this case we spell it with an ‘a’ as a play on words. That word being, “wanderlust”, which is what we hope you experience when you see the products we have for you!

Woodland Wanderland, started in April 2022, by Sarah Simpson, as an online gift shop for those who love nature. And, in July 2023,Sarah’s husband Justin, joined the family business and opened a brick and mortar shop in Pinetop, Arizona.

We offer butterflies, claws, teeth, furs, skulls and other animal products. All of our products are ethically sourced. We are fully aware, and work closely with, our suppliers to ensure ethical treatment of the lives of which we hope to honor as we preserve butterflies and other life forms which you will find in our shop. We are passionate about showcasing the beauty of life.

We are also passionate about individuals from customers to suppliers. In 2023, Woodland Wanderland also became a humanitarian effort. We were able to secure individual suppliers in small villages in Africa to Vietnam. Woodland Wanderland works with these suppliers to provide beautiful gifts and also to feed and cloth suppliers and their families with a good compensation for their efforts.

As a current mental health therapist in Arizona, as well as a former Trail Walker for the Anasazi Foundation where Sarah taught primitive skills to “troubled youth”. During that time Sarah realized the importance that nature plays in the mental well-being of every human. When humans and nature are connected a certain magic happens and people can be their raw, authentic selves, and healing can take place. In a place caught up in the glory of the Great Creator.

Sarah creates nature art to help others connect with Mother Earth and regulate their mental well-being. Sarah’s work generally consists of butterflies as they are symbolically known for new beginnings and tranformation. The transformation that can occur when people connect with nature.

Woodland Wanderland was created to be much more than another retail shop but a true experience. One that sooth your soul and helps you to feel embraced by Mother Earth as you feel a sense of community and belonging. It’s designed to give those who feel like “misfits” a true belonging place.

Sarah’s love of nature has enabled her to spend time learning from the legendary David Holladay (Boulder Outdoor Survival School instructor, also known for his role in the movie Cast Away); allowed her to walk in the woods with Alone cast member, Brady Nicholls; and introduced her to her close friend, Skeet Lassiter, who has received millions of views for his wilderness survival channel, Jiujitsu2000, where she has been featured for doing survival trips with him. To Sarah, nature is far more than just art but life itself.
